POILPrzed odpaleniem 4. albumu ekipy z Lyonu przyda wam się przestroga. Jeśli macie za sobą ciężki dzień i chcecie się trochę zrelaksować, ta płyta to ostatnie, czego chcecie. Jeśli szukacie wpadających w ucho melodii, to zdecydowanie zabłądziliście. Jeśli szukacie natchnionych emocjami kompozycji, łatwiej by było odnaleźć w fabryce samochodów. To po co właściwie i kiedy się z tobą płytą zapoznawać? Ano trzeba trochę się wysilić i otworzyć umysł. Poil nie będą się z wami cackać i przy pierwszym spotkaniu was przytłoczą swoją nadpobudliwością. Ponad 10-minutowe kompozycje nie są dla nich pretekstem do powolnego rozwoju wydarzeń. Już w pierwszym utworze (Sus la peìra) wszystko wiadomo, będzie głośno, bez żadnego uśmiechania się i puszczania oka do słuchacza, rytm to pojęcie płynne, a kompozycja brnie tam, gdzie poniosą cię instrumenty. Łatwo można się w takiej muzyce zagubić, jeśli nie potrafi się zapanować nad swoimi instrumentami, ale Antoine, Boris i Guilhem są absolutnie wybitnymi muzykami, którzy idealnie łączą progresję, jazz i matematyczny rock, a w Luses Fadas są nawet przebojowi przez moment. Zespół szczególnie wyróżniają klawisze Antoine’a Arnera (z jakiegoś powodu myślę o polskim Paristetris) i brak gitary elektrycznej, który w ogóle tutaj nie wadzi. „Sus” z pewnością spodoba się tym, którzy lubią swoich wirtuozów w pełni wolnych od kaftanów bezpieczeństwa.

Sus, the new album of the ultra-speed superhero trio is steeped in maturity. The record consists of two epic 20 minute pieces where humour gives up its place to lyricism and Occitan poetry. Serenades of love, sky and sea intercourse, mad dogs shrieking from the bottom of a well…. PoiL have removed their red costumes and donned troubadour’s cap, ostensibly calmer but forever close to madness.
Rocked by the sweet Oc patois, in addition, PoiL seize Occitan and Provencal poetry – from Max Rouquette and Théodore Aubanel – to dress their sound. The compositions draw from a broad field of inspiration: Occitan polyphony, Renaissance counterpoint, repetitive music and buccal filtered vocalizations inspired by Stockhausen Stimmung on a mushroom trip, technoïd rhythm for limping dancers. All on a bed of big sound, swift and distorted, evoking thoughts of rabid dogs and the swarming of a nocturnal forest under a full moon.
After “L'ire des papes”, “Dins o cuol” and “Brossaklitt”, here comes Sus with another curve in the tortuous path of PoiL. The album was recorded at l’Art Scène studio by Adrian Bourget, made with the energy and raw sound, of their frenetic, mind bending live show.
SUS au vieux poil, le nouvel album du trio de super héros big beat surf ultra speed et rigolo dégage un fumé de prématurité. Deux pavés épiques de 20 minutes chacun compose cet album où l'humour laisse place au lyrisme et à la poésie Occitane. Aubade amoureuse, coït du ciel et de la mer, sucettes de poissons chauves, chiens fous, frémissements du monde au fond d'un puits... Poil a quitté son body rouge pour enfiler une casquette de troubadour polyphoniste, plus sage en apparence mais toujours plus proche de la folie.
Après L'Ire des papes, Dins o cuol, Brossaklitt, c'est au tour de SUS de marquer un nouveau tournant dans le cheminement tortueux du groupe amorcé en 2006. L'album, enregistré au studio L'art scène à Bourgoin Jallieu avec Adrian Bourget, a été pensé dans une énergie proche du concert, avec un son relativement brut, en chair et en os, fidèle à ce qui est joué sur scène
